Σφαλιάρα!

Δυνατό χαστούκι δέχτηκε ο Παναθηναϊκός στο ΟΑΚΑ, αφού ηττήθηκε από τον Ερυθρό Αστέρα με 63-74, καθώς παρέμεινε πολύ μακριά από το καλό πρόσωπο που δείχνει στο ΟΑΚΑ. Η σφαλιάρα αυτή μπορεί να λειτουργήσει ως ξυπνητήρι για τους πράσινους αφού ο θεσμός ακόμα έχει πολύ δρόμο και τίποτα δεν έχει χαθεί.

Το καμπανάκι είχε χτυπήσει και την προηγούμενη αγωνιστική με τη Μάλαγα, καθώς η ομάδα ούτε τότε ήταν ικανοποιητική. Οι πράσινοι τώρα έχουν σκορ 1-2 και πρέπει να υπερασπιστούν τη νίκη τους  (+2) όταν θα ταξιδέψουν στη Μάλαγα και φυσικά να αναζητήσουν και περισσότερα διπλά.

 Η ομάδα φαίνεται κουρασμένη και παίζει χωρίς ψυχολογία. Έχει έλλειψη (όπως έχουμε πολλάκις επισημάνει) σε γκαρντ και κατά συνέπεια σε φρεσκάδα, αφού έχουν επιβαρυνθεί πολύ οι Καλάθης, Διαμαντίδης και Φελντέιν. Και σήμερα αυτοί οι τρεις μοιράστηκαν τις θέσεις 1-2. Και πέραν της κόπωσης, όταν βγάζεις όλο το ματς με 3 γκαρντ για 2 θέσεις, οι αντίπαλοι θα σε πιέσουν, θα σου χαλάσουν την επίθεση, θα σε κουράσουν και φυσικά, δε θα έχεις την ενέργεια να παίξεις άμυνα... Και εκεί που πήγαινε να βρει ρυθμό και ο Παπάς ξανατραυματίστηκε!

Κάπως έτσι ο Παναθηναϊκός έχασε τα σουτ (3/24 - 12,5% στα τρίποντα), έχασε μερικά εύκολα λέι απ (21/43 - 48,8% δίποντα) και κόλλησε απίστευτα στην επίθεση. Σε αυτό φυσικά συνετέλεσε η ασφυκτική άμυνα του Ερ. Αστέρα, που είχε διαβάσει άψογα το πικ εν ρολ του Παναθηναϊκού και πως θα το σταματήσει. Και όταν η μπάλα έφτανε στο 5 στον Ραντούλιτσα, η άμυνα έκλεινε αρμονικά και παρενοχλούσε το ποστάρισμα του Σέρβου. Ήταν και άστοχοι οι πράσινοι απόψε, οπότε οι 63 πόντοι στην επίθεση ήταν κάτι το φυσιολογικό.

Οι Σέρβοι του Αστέρα έκλεισαν και ένα ακόμα επιθετικό όπλο του Παναθηναϊκού που ακούει στο όνομα Τζέιμς Φελντέιν. Ο Δομινικανός αγωνίστηκε 38', πέτυχε 12 πόντους αλλά ήταν πολύ άστοχος (4/14 FG). Και ο Καλάθης στον άσσο κλείστηκε καλά και δεν μπόρεσε εύκολα να οργανώσει την ομάδα. 

Ο Πάβλοβιτς ήταν για ακόμα μια φορά ανύπαρκτος. Έχει ποιότητα σαν παίκτης, αλλά είναι αργός και δεν μπόρεσε να μπει στο ρυθμό του παιχνιδιού. Απαιτείται να έχει πιο σταθερή απόδοση.

Από την άλλη αμυντικά ο Παναθηναϊκός ήταν ασταθής και κακός. Δεν είναι και το δυνατό του σημείο η άμυνα και ο Ερ. Αστέρας έκανε πάρτι στη ρακέτα των πράσινων. Ο Ζίρμπες κατά διαστήματα ήταν ασταμάτητος. Αν δεν έχανε και τις βολές ο Αστέρας, θα είχε διευρύνει αρκετά περισσότερο από νωρίς τη διαφορά. 

Το σκορ στο ημίχρονο ήταν 34-38. Η αφύπνιση που περιμέναμε δε συνέβη στο 2ο ημίχρονο. Μουδιασμένος έφυγε, μουδιασμένος μπήκε ο Παναθηναϊκός. Μόνο ο Ραντούλιτσα που λόγω των 2 φάουλ δεν είχε αγωνιστεί πολύ στο Α μέρος. Σαφής η τάση να περάσει η μπάλα από τα χέρια του και αυτό βελτιώνει την επίθεση των πράσινων. Όμως τα αργά πόδια των πράσινων σε αντίθεση με το γρήγορο μπάσκετ των Σέρβων και η κακή πικ εν ρολ άμυνα του Παναθηναϊκού δεν του επιτρέπει να επιστρέψει στο ματς και η διαφορά άνοιξε. Τελικό σκορ 63-74.

Από τους λίγους διακριθέντες (μαζί με τον Ραντούλιτσα) ο Γκιστ. Ήταν αυτός που σταμάτησε τον Μίλερ (στους 4 πόντους) και πήγε πολύ καλά και επιθετικά, που (στο τέλος τους αγώνα) έβγαλε και θεαματικά πικ εν ρολ με τον Καλάθη πάνω από τα βαρύ κορμί του Στίματς.

Zvezda downs Panathinaikos in Athens for maiden Group E victory

In a tough, defensive showdown that went down to the final minutes, Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade registered its first win in Top 16 Group E by downing Panathinaikos Athens 63-74 in front of 11,000 fans in the Greek capital on Thursday. Both teams now have 1-2 records in Group E. Maik Zirbes led the winners with 12 points, Branko Lazic and Vladimir Stimac each added 11 while Stefan Jovic flirted with a triple-double and finished with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for Zvezda. James Gist led Panathinaikos with 15 points and James Feldeine and Miroslav Raduljica each had 12 for the hosts. Stimac and Nemanja Dangubic shined early to give Zvezda a 14-16 lead after 10 minutes. A coast-to-coast layup by Feldeine gave Panathinaikos its last lead, 28-26. Zvezda found a go-to guy in Zirbes, who helped the visitors restore a 34-38 lead at halftime. Raduljica brought the Greens within 48-50, but a 0-9 run that Marko Guduric capped with a fast break layup boosted Zvezda's lead to 48-59 early in the fourth quarter. Lazic and Zirbes helped the visitors keep a safe margin from that moment until the final buzzer.

First quarter: Visitors shine on defense to take lead

Gist got Panathinaikos going with a put-back layup, which Ognjen Kuzmic followed with a second-chance basket for a 4-0 lead. Zvezda was held scoreless for more than two minutes until Tarence Kinsey banked in a close shot. Panathinaikos kept dominating the game with good defense, not allowing Zvezda to get Quincy Miller or Zirbes involved. The Greens also struggled to score, however, and a layup by Dangubic tied it at 4-4. Raduljica sank a jump hook, which Stimac erased with a layup. Gist found Nick Calathes for a fast break layup before Dangubic nailed a four-meter jumper. Calathes split free throws and a three-pointer by Jovic gave Zvezda its first lead, 9-11. Dimitris Diamantidis answered from downtown, but Lazic shined with a layup-plus-foul and a jump hook by Stimac boosted the guests' lead to 12-16. A dunk by Georgios Papagiannis brought Panathinaikos within 14-16 after 10 minutes.

Second quarter: Zirbes keeps Zvezda in charge

Vladimir Jankovic nailed a three-pointer early in the quarter, as Panathinaikos regained momentum on defense with big blocks by Papagiannis and Antonis Fotsis. Lazic rescued the guests with a bomb from downtown, which prompted Panathinaikos to call timeout at 17-19. Diamantidis made free throws, but Simonovic had a block on Calathes and hit a three-pointer at the other end for a 19-22 Zvezda edge. Calathes finished a great Panathinaikos play with a fast break layup and Kuzmic bettered Maik Zirbes's jump hook with a three-point play. Zirbes split foul shots, but Feldeine followed a coast-to-coast layup with free throws for a 28-26 Panathinaikos lead. Miller knocked down a couple of free throws and an unstoppable Zirbes gave Zvezda the lead, 28-32. Gist drew a foul and hit both attempts from the line, but Zirbes scored down low and a dunk by Dangubic made it a 5-point game. Kinsey scored again, but Papagiannis and a buzzer-beating layup by Gist fixed the halftime score at 34-38.

Third quarter: Stimac keeps visitors ahead

Jovic buried one from beyond the arc immediately after the break, as Panathinaikos struggled to organize its offense and committed a couple of turnovers. A red-hot Jovic fired in an eight-meter triple to give Zvezda its first double-digit lead, 34-44. The Greens were held scoreless for more than three minutes until Feldeine stepped up with a driving layup. Miller took over with a big basket off a spin move that caused Panathinaikos call timeout at 36-46. Calathes tried to change things with a backdoor layup and a jump hook by Raduljica gave the Greens hope at 40-46. Stimac scored around the basket, but Raduljica provided a highlight with a big dunk off the baseline and soon added free throws that made it a 4-point game. After Kinsey fed Stimac for a layup, Feldeine answered with a second-chance basket and a jump hook by Raduljica brought Panathinaikos even closer, 48-50. Stimac scored again and a jumper by Vasilije Micic gave Zvezda a 48-54 edges.

Fourth quarter: Zvezda holds on for historic win

Micic buried a three-pointer early in the quarter and a dunk by Guduric made it an 11-point game. Panathinaikos called timeout and Feldeine took over with a bomb from downtown. Simonovic scored in transition, but he didn't find much help around. Meanwhile, Raduljica answered with a two-handed slam to get within 53-61. Zvezda improved its defense when it mattered most, as the Greens even missed free throw attempts. Meanwhile, a three-pointer by Lazic sealed the outcome, 53-64, with four minutes to go. Kinsey made free throws and Stimac split attempts, but Gist brought Panathinaikos a bit closer, 58-67. Lazic and Zirbes buried foul shots, as both teams were now fighting for point difference. Panathinaikos never gave up, but Zvezda went back to Belgrade with a good-as-gold road win.

Ο Παναθηναϊκός απόδειξε για ακόμα μια φορά ότι κολλάει στα κρίσιμα ματς και δεν μπορεί να ανταπεξέρθει όταν δεν του βγαίνουν τα σουτ. Αδυνατεί να διαχειριστεί και τις διαφορές που παίρνει. Υπάρχει βέβαια άλλοθι, καθώς πρόκειται για μια νεανική και σχετικά άπειρη ομάδα κάτι το οποίο φαίνεται και όταν μπαίνει η δεύτερα 5άδα στο παρκέ - φαίνεται πως χάνεται η χημεία και ο ρυθμός. 

Το κακό αποψινό ξεκίνημα του 1ου δεκαλέπτου κατάφερε να ξεπεράσει σταδιακά μέχρι και το τέλος του 3ου δεκαλέπτου όπου και προσπέρασε με 44-45. Μουδιασμένος - αγχωμένος ξεκίνησε τον αγώνα ο Παναθηναϊκός καθώς ο Αστέρας ξάφνιασε με άμυνα ζώνης και μπλόκαρε την επιθετική κυκλοφορία των πράσινων, που εκδήλωναν επιθέσεις κυρίως με (άστοχα) τρίποντα. 

Ο Μαριάνοβιτς κυριαρχούσε στη επιθετικά ρακέτα και γενικά η άμυνα του Παναθηναϊκού στο ζωγραφιστό είχε πρόβλημα απόψε. Το αποτέλεσμα ήταν ο Αστέρας, που δεν εντυπωσίασε και ιδιαίτερα, να πάρει μια διαφορά 16-7 στο δεκάλεπτο.

Μόλις βγήκε ο Μαριάνοβιτς έκανε πιο αισθητή την παρουσία του στη ρακέτα ο Παναθηναϊκός και πήγε σε πιο ορθολογικές επιθέσεις με Μπατίστα και Μαυροκεφαλίδη. Κάπως έτσι κατάφερε και μάζεψε τη διάφορα στο 2ο δεκάλεπτο. Σε αυτό συνέβαλε και η "ζεστή" είσοδος του Παππά στο παιχνίδι, σαν να είχε πάρει φόρα από το περσιό ματς στη Χάλα Πιονίρ, ο οποίος βοήθησε πολύ στο σκοράρισμα. Σκορ ημιχρόνου 26-23. 

Με τη μαχητικότητα που είχαν οι πράσινοι, κατάφεραν και έκαναν συντήρηση της διαφοράς σε μικρά επίπεδα. Ευτυχώς τα νέα από το Βερολίνο ήταν ευχάριστα... Η Μακάμπι κέρδισε την Άλμπα και έτσι ακόμα και με ήττα ο Παναθηναϊκός είχε περάσει στα playoffs. Αυτό φάνηκε να απελευθερώνει το παιχνίδι των πράσινων που έβγαλαν και ωραίες φάσεις (σεμιναριακά τα πικ εν ρολ Διαμαντίδη - Μπατίστα). Σκορ 3ου δεκαλέπτου 44-45. 

Ορεξάτος μπήκε στο 4ο δεκάλεπτο ο Νέλσον που με δύο γκολ-φάουλ δίνει προβάδισμα 7 πόντων στον Παναθηναϊκό. Αρκετά όμως αβίαστα λάθη από τους πράσινους δίνουν την ευκαιρία στον Αστέρα να ξαναπλησιάσει στο σκορ, κάνοντας το ματς ντέρμπι. Κλειδί στην εξέλιξη του αγώνα τα 3 συνεχόμενα φάουλ του Γιάνκοβιτς που έδωσαν βολές στον Αστέρα, με το ένα από αυτά να δίνει έμμεσο τετράποντο στους Σέρβους. Στις ειδικές καταστάσεις το ματς, ο Μπατίστα χάνει ριμπάουντ από το Μαριάνοβιτς που κερδίζει και το φάουλ, βάζοντας και τις βολές. Κακή επίθεση στο καπάκι εκδηλώνει ο Παναθηναϊκός με την μπάλα να κολλάει στα χέρια του Διαμαντίδη. Τελικό σκορ 69-68 ήττα για τους πράσινους, αλλά ευτυχώς δε σήμανε αποκλεισμό από τα playoffs. 

Και τώρα ΤΣΣΚΑ με μειονέκτημα έδρας. Σειρά που ενδείκνυται για εμπειρίες μπορεί να αποδειχθεί αυτή που ξεκινά από την προσεχή Τρίτη, με τον Παναθηναϊκό να είναι σαφώς το αουτσάιντερ. Δεν έχει τίποτα να χάσει. Πρέπει να είναι μαχητικός και όλα πιθανά! 

HIGHLIGHTS

Η ομάδα θέλει προσθήκες. Ο Διαμαντίδης κάνει ότι μπορεί, αλλά οι Μποχωρίδης και Νέλσον φάνηκαν λίγοι στη θέση 1. Ο Σλότερ στα εκτός έδρας είναι συνήθως ανύπαρκτος, οι Γιάνκοβιτς και Παππάς είχαν μια καλή χρονιά για απόκτηση εμπειριών, αλλά ακόμα δεν μπορούν να ηγηθούν και δεν έχουν σταθερή απόδοση. Ο Μπλουμς πέρα από το σουτ δεν έχει να δώσει κάτι περισσότερο. Στα ψηλά κορμιά έχει ποιότητα, αλλά και πάλι ένας ακόμα καλός ψηλός λείπει. Το ρόστερ θέλει 2 καλές προσθήκες, ο πρόεδρος πρέπει να βάλει το χέρι στην τσέπη να φέρει 2 παίκτες κλειδιά. 

Τέλος, όπως υποστηρίζουν πολλοί φίλοι του Παναθηναϊκού (και όχι άδικα), φαίνεται πως ο Ιβάνοβιτς στα κρίσιμα σημεία κάπου το χάνει με τη διαχείριση του ρόστερ. Θέλει συνολική δουλειά η ομάδα και μπορεί να καταφέρει περισσότερα. Τελείωσε (όπως και πέρσι) με 5-5 στη regualr season και με 7-7 στο Top-16. 

Πάμε για μια σειρά με μια υπερπλήρη ομάδα όπως η ΤΣΣΚΑ και με πολύ καλό προπονητή, προς τέρψη όλων ημών των μπασκετόφιλων!

Marjanovic lifts Zvezda past Panathinaikos in a thriller

Playing in their last Euroleague game of the season, Boban Marjanovic made game-winning free throws with 2.2 seconds to go and Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade rallied late to a thrilling 69-68 win over playoff-bound Panathinaikos Athens in Hala Pionir on Thursday night. Panathinaikos learned before the start of the fourth quarter it had qualified for the playoffs with Maccabi’s win in Berlin. The Greek champs finished fourth in Group E with a 7-7 record and will face CSKA Moscow in the best-of-five playoffs next week, while Zvezda finished its Top 16 campaign with a 4-10 record and seventh place in the group. Zvezda kept the visitors without a field goal in the final seven minutes of the first quarter to build a 16-7 lead behind Marcus Williams and Marjanovic. The lead reached double figures in the second. However, Nikos Pappas got the Greens going and led them to cut the margin to 30-26 at halftime, before Vlantimir Giankovits and Dimitris Diamantidis hit from downtown in the third quarter for Panathinaikos to regain the lead. The Greens went on to build a 50-58 lead, but Zvezda rallied. The lead changed hands twice in the final minute before Marjanovic won it. He finished with a double-double, his record-breaking sixteenth of the season, amassing 12 points and 16 rebounds. Big man broke two more single-season records along the way, setting a mark for most rebounds in a season with 256, and the greatest accumulated performance index rating with 616 this season. Nikola Kalinic scored 14 for Zvezda, while Jaka Blazic, Luka Mitrovic and Williams each netted 11 in victory. Esteban Batista scored 15 for Panathinaikos, Diamantidis had 12, and Pappas 11 in defeat.

First quarter: Zvezda pulls away from the get go

Batista went around Marjanovic to open the scoring with a layup. The hosts countered with free throws from Marjanovic and a triple from Williams to make it 5-2. Diamantidis nailed a jumper, but Marjanovic assisted Williams for a layup, before Williams fed Mitrovic with a thread-the-needle pass for a dunk and a 9-4 lead. Following a timeout, Loukas Mavrokefalidis and Marjanovic traded foul shots, before Williams sank a three-pointer and Kalinic muscled his way inside to bank in a shot for 16-7 Zvezda lead after 10 minutes.

Second quarter: Pappas gets Panathinaikos back in it

A put-back from Mitrovic gave Zvezda a double-digit lead, before Pappas scored a fastbreak layup to end an eight-minute scoring drought from the field for the visitors. Diamantidis followed it with a triple to get within 18-12, but Maik Zirbes had a put-back slam for Zvezda, and Nemanja Dangubic buried a triple. Panathinaikos answered through Batista inside, and Pappas twice drove for layups that made it 24-18. Panathinaikos held the hosts without a basket for almost four minutes before Charles Jenkins scored a fastbreak layup. Giankovits countered with a triple, and Papas fed Batista for an easy one-handed slam, 26-23. After a timeout, however, Marjanovic rocked the rim with a dunk, before feeding Mitrovic for a dunk and a 7-point margin. However, Antonis Fotsis nailed a corner triple to keep the Greens close, 30-26 at halftime.

Third quarter: Giankovits fuels the Greens to slim lead

Batista had an easy dunk on a fast break, and Giankovits nailed a triple to put Panathinaikos in front, 30-31. But corner triples from Jaka Blazic and Williams restored Zvezda’s lead, and Marjanovic scored inside to make it 38-31. Diamantidis assisted Batista for a dunk, then the veteran point guard hit one from long range. Blazic buried a jumper and Kalinic had a layup to make it 42-36, but a triple from Giankovits and a pair of foul shots from Batista got the Greens within a single point. Marjanovic scored a layup, but Diamantidis made a couple free throws and a basket from Mavrokefalidis gave the Greens 44-45 at the end of the quarter.

Fourth quarter: Zvezda rallies and Marjanovic wins it

DeMarcus Nelson muscled his way inside, opening the quarter with a basket-plus-foul, then stole the ball and raced for another three-point play. After a timeout, Mitrovic nailed a triple, and after a basket from Mavrokefalidis, Kalinic had a layup-plus-foul to make it 50-53. Pappas drove for a layup, and Fotsis hit a triple to extend it to 50-58. After a Zvezda timeout, Kalinic scored inside, and after a reverse a layup from Batista, a triple by Blazic cut it to 55-60. Nelson and Mitrovic traded baskets from close range, but in the next couple of minutes, Kalinic made 5 of 6 from the line, getting Zvezda within 62-63 with 1:40 left to play. Diamantidis made a pair of free throws and Panathinaikos had possession, but Zvezda made a defensive stand that led to a fastbreak finished with a Blazic burying a triple while drawing a foul. With the score at 65-65, Blazic missed the free throw, but Kalinic secured an offensive rebound and Jenkins scored free throws with 36.6 remaining for a 67-65 lead. After a timeout, Pappas sank a three-pointer for a 67-68 advantage with 20.3 seconds to play. On the ensuing possession, the ball went into hands of Williams who missed a triple, but Marjanovic had an offensive rebound and drew a foul with 2.2 to go. He made both foul shots to put Zvezda in front again, and win it as the hosts did not allow Panathinaikos a look at the basket in the remaining time.
