Κόκκινος συναγερμός ήχησε στη Βαρκελώνη. Εκκωφαντική νίκη με 63-76 πέτυχε ο Ολυμπιακός στη Βαρκελώνη παίζοντας ολοκληρωτικό μπάσκετ για 40'. 'Έπνιξε τους Καταλανούς με την πολύ ενεργητική και καλή ομαδική άμυνά του, ήταν απόλυτα συγκεντρωμένος για 40' και είχε πολύ καλές επιλογές στην επίθεση. Και φυσικά με τέτοια ποσοστά ευστοχίας (53% διπ. - 48% τριπ.) και τέτοιο εκπληκτικό Πρίντεζη (MVP με PIR 34) δε δύναται να χάσεις!

Και δεν μπορεί κανείς να παραβλέψει την "επιστροφή του βασιλιά" Σπανούλη που έβγαλε ενέργεια και "ξάφνιασε" του Καταλανούς με την εμφάνισή του. Άσσος στο μανίκι του Σφαιρόπουλου, σκόραρε όταν έπρεπε, έβαλε δύο κολλητά τρίποντα, μοίρασε σωστά τη μπάλα και ήταν καθοριστικός. Εξαιρετικό κοουτσάρισμα και διαχείριση παιχνιδιού από το Σφαιρόπουλο.

O Ολυμπιακός έκανε το 1-1 και φέρνει τη σειρά στην έδρα του, έχοντας το ψυχολογικό πλεονέκτημα! Όσοι χάσατε το ματς, ψάξτε να το δείτε. Επικό παιχνίδι από τον Ολυμπιακό, με άρωμα Λονδίνου...

Ο Πασκουάλ φάνηκε σαν να ξαφνιάστηκε από την ετοιμότητα του Σπανούλη και ανατράπηκαν τα πλάνα του. Ο αρχηγός του Ολυμπιακού εμφανώς ανανεωμένος, με αισθητή διαφορά από τον αγώνα της Τετάρτης, μπήκε πολύ δυνατά στο ματς και έδωσε 26' ποιοτικά λεπτά στην ομάδα. Αυτή τη φορά κατάφερε και έσπασε τα double team των Καταλανών, έκανε και 2-3 δυναμικά drive, μοίρασε σωστά τη μπάλα (5 ασίστ) χαρίζοντας και εντυπωσιακά highligts (σσ. alleyoop με Ντάνστον).

Η μόνη αξιόπιστη απάντηση που επιθετικά που είχε η Μπαρτσελόνα ήταν οι εκλάμψεις του Ναβάρο, που σκόραρε από τα 6,75 με "δολοφονικό ένστικτο" και κρατούσε ζωντανή την Μπαρτσελόνα στο παιχνίδι.

Πολύ ορθολογικός ο τρόπος ανάπτυξης του Ολυμπιακού επιθετικά, με υπομονή στην επίθεση, ψάχνοντας λύσεις από τη ρακέτα με κύριο εκφραστή τον Πρίιντεζη που ήταν ασταμάτητος. Έτσι κατάφερε και πήρε ένα σημαντικό προβάδισμα 10 πόντων στο ημίχρονο (25-35). Η επιθετική συγκομιδή των μόλις 25 πόντων της Μπαρτσελόνα, δείχνει την εξαιρετική ομαδική δουλειά στην άμυνα του Ολυμπιακού. Μια σύνθετη άμυνα με δυναμικό heads-out των Ντάνστον-Χάντερ και τον 2άρι/3άρι να κάθεται στο κέντρο της ρακέτας περιμένοντας να μαρκάρει τον Τόμιτς που έπαιρνε την μπάλα. Ο Τόμιτς όμως έχει μάθει να σκέφτεται πρώτα την πάσα και μετά να εκτελεί. Ο εν λόγω παίκτης του Ολυμπιακού όμως δεν πήγαινε πάνω του να τον κλείσει, γιατί ο Κροάτης σέντερ αμέσως θα μοίραζε στη weak side για τρίποντο από τα γκαρντ της Μπαρτσελόνα. Έτσι του έδινε χώρο και αυτό φάνηκε να ξαφνιάζει τον Τόμιτς που σάστιζε και δεν μπορούσε να αποφασίσει άμεσα. Έτσι ο σέντερ του Ολυμπιακού είχε γυρίσει να τον μαρκάρει και απέτρεπε την επίθεση.

Ο Ολυμπιακός έπρεπε να μπει εξίσου συγκεντρωμένος στο ματς και να δείξει ότι έχει τα ηνία. Οι Καταλανοί είχαν την τελευταία ευκαιρία με επιστρέψουν από τα αποδυτήρια με καθαρό μυαλό. Παραλίγο να τα καταφέρουν, αλλά για κακή τους τύχη οι καλαθομηχανή των Πειριατών πήρε μπρος... Άρχισαν να σκοράρουν με τρομερή ευστοχία από τα 6,75 με Σπανούλη - Μάντζαρη - Λοτζέσκι και να σβήνουν τις όποιες ελπίδες της Μπάρτσα για επιστροφή στο ματς. Αν και άφησε το πλάνο του και δεν επιτέθηκε πολλές από το ζωγραφιστό, η μεγάλη ευστοχία του εκτίναξε τη διαφορά στους 10+ πόντους. Σκορ 3ης περιόδου 45-56.

 Λίγο πιο συγκεντρωμένος στο 4ο, ξεκινά με εύστοχες επιθέσεις από Χάντερ και Πρίντεζη από τη ρακέτα. Ο Μάντζαρης το βιολί του από τα 6,75 (τελείωσε με 4/4). Ο Ολυμπιακός δεν μπορούσε πλέον να χάσει με τέτοια εμφάνιση... Τελικό σκορ 63-76.

Όλοι πήγαν καλά, με εξαίρεση τον Ντάνστον που έδειχνε να μην είναι απόλυτα συγκεντρωμένος στο παιχνίδι, και τον Ντάρντεν που βοήθησε κυρίως αμυντικά. Ο Πέτγουεϊ δεν αγωνίστηκε καθόλου (μάλλον για λόγους τακτικής), αλλά με τέτοιο Πρίντεζη που ήταν και στην άμυνα εξαιρετικός, δε φάνηκε η απουσία του. Ας μην ξεχνάμε ότι ο υπαρχηγός του Ολυμπιακού, είχε μεγάλο διάστημα εκτός αγωνιστικής δράσης και ίσως για αυτό τώρα να διανύει περίοδο φορμαρίσματος. Στο 4 και ο Αγραβάνης προσέφερε και αυτός κυρίως αμυντικά.

Olympiacos claims key road win at Barcelona

Olympiacos Piraeus bounced back from a Game 1 loss in the best-of-five playoffs series by downing FC Barcelona 63-76 on the road in Game 2 on Friday. The series is tied at 1-1, but Olympiacos now has the home-court advantage and hosts Games 3 and 4 next week. Georgios Printezis recorded one of the best games of his career to lead the Reds with 22 points and just 3 missed shots plus 9 rebounds. Vassilis Spanoulis added 16 points and 5 assists and Vangelos Mantzaris scored 12 for the winners. Olympiacos biggest weapon was its defense. The 63 points it held Barcelona to tied theclub’s record-low in the Euroleague Playoffs. Printezis and Spanoulis shined early to give Olympiacos a 3-9 lead. The Reds excelled on defense throughout the first quarter, shutting down their opponent, while Matt Lojeski and Othello Hunter kept Olympiacos ahead, 10-15 after 10 minutes. Three-pointers by Spanoulis and Oliver Lafayette soon made it a double-digit game, 10-21, and an outstanding Printezis gave Olympiacos a 15-29 margin midway through the second quarter. Juan Carlos Navarro brought Barcelona within 25-35 at halftime - the least points by the hosts in a Euroleague home game at the break since March 2006. A rain of three-pointers by Mantzaris, Spanoulis, Printezis and Lojeski saw Olympiacos improve its margin to 45-56 after three quarters. Hunter and Mantzaris boosted the guests' lead to 50-68 and Olympiacos kept full control until the final buzzer. Navarro paced the Barcelona attack with 16 points and Ante Tomic tallied 14 points and 14 rebounds.

First quarter: Olympiacos returns to the series

Vangelis Mantzaris got Olympiacos going with a three-pointer, as the Reds held Barcelona scoreless in the opening 2 minutes. A layup by Printezis gave the guests a 0-5 lead. Navarro swished a big triple of the dribble, but unlike in Game 1, Olympiacos controlled the defensive board and the game tempo. Printezis hit an off-balance jump hook, which Spanoulis followed with his trademark driving layup for a 3-9 Olympiacos lead. Tomic stepped up with an up-and-under layup and free throws by Maciej Lampe got Barcelona within 7-9. Spanoulis found Othello Hunter for a two-handed slam and nailed a stop-and-pop jumper himself to restore a 7-13 Olympiacos edge. Tomas Satoransky split free throws, but a one-handed jumper by Matt Lojeski made it a 7-point game. Tibor Pleiss hit foul shots to bring the hosts a bit closer, 10-15, after 10 minutes.

Second quarter: Reds keep rolling

Barcelona kept struggling to score early in the quarter, while Spanoulis and Oliver Lafayette buried back-to-back three-pointers off a screen, which caused the hosts to stop the game at 10-21. Edwin Jackson beat the buzzer - and ignited the crowd - with a wild triple. Printezis hit a jump hook off the baseline and a layup by Hunter boosted the Reds' lead to 13-25. Printezis dunked off a midcourt steal, but Navarro matched it with a driving basket. After Printezis banked in a close shot, Lampe scored down low and free throws by DeShaun Thomas and Satoransky brought the hosts within 19-29. Bryant Dunston took over with a wild alley-oop slam and a big block on Tomic. Navarro nailed a step-back three-pointer to get Barcelona within single digits, 22-31. Printezis answered from downtown and Lojeski split free throws, but Navarro insisted from beyond the arc to fix the halftime score at 25-35.

Third quarter: Three-pointers keep guests in charge

Satoransky scored around the basket immediately after the break, as Barcelona improved its defense, backed by a noisier crowd. A layup by Lampe soon brought the hosts within 29-35. A jumper by Tomic caused Olympiacos to call timeout at 31-35. Printezis stepped up for Olympiacos with a running hook and a floating jumper. Tomic scored around the basket, but Mantzaris did better with a three-pointer for a 33-42 advantage. Satoransky made free throws and a 'bomba' by Navarro brought Barcelona within 37-42. Spanoulis nailed a triple and improved Tomic's jump hook with another bomb from downtown that gave Olympiacos fresh air at 39-48. Marcelinho Huertas banked in a close shot and hit a one-handed floater, but three-pointers by Printezis and Lojeski caused the hosts to call timeout at 43-54. Navarro hit free throws, but Kostas Sloukas hit his trademark jumper off the dribble to give Olympiacos a 45-56 cushion.

Fourth quarter: Mantzaris threes ice the game

Hunter scored down low early in the quarter, but Mario Hezonja immediately answered with a three-pointer to make it 48-58. Hunter insisted with another layup. Huertas scored in the paint and an off-balance triple by Mantzaris silenced the crowd at 50-63 with over eight minutes left. Printezis beat the shot clock buzzer with a turnaround jumper and a three-pointer by Mantzaris boosted the guests' lead to 50-68. Navarro answered from downtown and a backdoor layup by Tomic gave Barcelona hope at 55-68. But Olympiacos kept running the clock down with long possessions and Lojeski finished one of those with a three-pointer that sealed the outcome, 55-71, with under four minutes left. Tomic dunked, but it was already too little, too late for the hosts.

Πώς καταλαβαίνεις ότι δεν είναι η βραδιά σου...; Όταν στη λήξη του 1ου δεκαλέπτου βγάζεις άμυνα και έχεις 2,5" για να εκτελέσεις μακρινό σουτ, αλλά πουλάς έτσι απλά την μπάλα και τρως και τρελό τρίποντο (σσ. Ουέρτας). Και αυτό είναι απλά ένα παράδειγμα που αποδεικνύει ότι ο Ολυμπιακός δεν ήταν πλήρως συγκεντρωμένος στο ματς, κυρίως ατομικά κάποιοι παίκτες του. Η ήττα (73-57 και με μεγάλη διαφορά) ήταν φυσικό επακόλουθο. Αμυντικά στάθηκε αρκετά καλά στην πολύ καλή επιθετικά Μπαρτσελόνα, αλλά στην επίθεση υπήρχαν μεγάλα θέματα.

 Ο Ολυμπιακός επέτρεψε (κυρίως στο 1ο ημίχρονο) στην Μπαρτσελόνα να του πάρει πολλά επιθετικά ριμπάουντ. Ακόμα μια πληγή και οι χαμένες βολές. Αν είχε αποφύγει τα δύο αυτά αρνητικά, σε συνδυασμό με κανά - δυο ακόμα εύστοχα τρίποντα στο 1ο ημίχρονο, η διαφορά στο σκορ θα ήταν κάτω από τους 9 και θα έμπαινε στο 2ο ημίχρονο με διαφορετική ψυχολογία. Σκορ ημιχρόνου 35-26.

Το χειρότερο δεκάλεπτο όπου και κόλλησε επιθετικά ήταν το 3ο. Εκεί εκδήλωσε κυρίως επιθέσεις τριών πόντων (οι περισσότερες άστοχες) με την μπάλα να μην περνάει σχεδόν καθόλου από τη ρακέτα. Θέλετε ο εκτός φόρμας Χάντερ, θέλετε οι ανάσες που έπρεπε να πάρει ο Ντάνστον αλλά και τραυματισμός ο οποίος αποκόμισε στο πόδι, ανάγκασαν το Σφαιρόπουλο να πάει σε σχήμα με 5άρι τον Αγραβάνη (ο Καββαδάς δεν ήταν στη 12άδα), όπου αυτό κυρίως στοίχισε επιθετικά στην κυκλοφορία της μπάλας. Και όταν δεν περνάς την μπάλα από τη ρακέτα, δεν βρίσκεις και ελεύθερα σουτ.

Βέβαια και η άμυνα της Μπαρτσελόνα ήταν ο παράγοντας αυτός που ζόρισε τον Ολυμπιακό. Οι Καταλανοί έκλεισαν καλά τα πικ εν ρολ (2-3 έβγαλε όλα και όλα ο Ολυμπιακός) παίζοντας γενικότερα σκληρή - πιεστική άμυνα.

Δυστυχώς για τους ερυθρόλευκους οι περισσότεροι παίκτες ατομικά δεν ήταν στη βραδιά τους:

Ο Πρίντεζης που αποτελεί το τελευταίο διάστημα μόνιμη πηγή σκοραρίσματος, έμεινε στους 4 (αγωνίστηκε 15΄).

Ο Μάντζαρης ήταν καλός αμυντικά, αλλά επιθετικά (που τον τελευταίο καιρό είχε έφεση και στη επίθεση) δε βοήθησε, ενώ είχε και 3 λάθη. 

Ο Λαφαγιέτ δεν έβαλε τα σουτ τα οποία συνήθως ευστοχεί (σουτάρει για 3 με 48% στο Top-16 - απόψε 1/4).

Ο Σπανούλης εμφανώς επηρεασμένος από τον τραυματισμό του, δεν μπορούσε να πάει με δύναμη στις φάσεις και κοβόταν ή έκανε λάθος πάσα. Ενδεικτικό της κατάστασής του το γεγονός ότι απόψε πέτυχε μόλις 1 πόντο, λιγότερους από κάθε άλλο συμπαίκτη του, όντας και ο μόνος με αρνητικό PIR (-8).

Ο Χάντερ και αυτός μετά τον τραυματισμό του δεν έχει βρει 100% ρυθμό. Στο τελευταίο δεκάλεπτο έδειξε να το παίρνει λίγο πάνω του και έβαλε καλάθια σημαντικά, όχι για την εξέλιξη του αγώνα, αλλά για τη συνέχεια της σειράς.

Ο Αγραβάνης (όπως έχουμε ξαναπεί) είναι ακόμα αρκετά άπειρος για να μπορέσει να διαχειριστεί τέτοια ματς. Παλεύει το παιδί, αλλά τώρα αποκτά παραστάσεις.
Οι υπόλοιποι γενικά κινήθηκαν στη μετριότητα.

O Ολυμπιακός δεν την έχει χαμένη τη σειρά. Θα πρέπει να παλέψει μέχρι και το 5ο ματς. Πολλοί προβλέπουν ότι εκεί θα πάει. Για να συμβεί αυτό, ίσως χρειαστεί και το διπλό την Παρασκευή, κάτι  βέβαια που η αγωνιστική κατάσταση στην οποία βρίσκεται δεν οδηγεί εκεί. Με απόλυτη συγκέντρωση και καλύτερη κυκλοφορία της μπάλας μπορεί να τα καταφέρει.

Barcelona downs Olympiacos in series opener

FC Barcelona took a 1-0 lead in its best-of-five playoffs series by downing Olympiacos Piraeus 73-57 at home on Wednesday. Barcelona struck first in the series and hosts Game 2 on Friday. This win was Barcelona’s ninth in a row in the Euroleague. It also marked the eighth straight home win for Barcelona against Olympiacos. Juan Carlos Navarro and Bostjan Nachbar each scored 10 to lead a balanced Barcelona attack. Maciej Lampe posted 8 points and 9 rebounds as the hosts dominated the boards 44-27. Dimitris Agravanis led all Olympiacos scorers with 9 points. Olympiacos had a strong start and a jumper by Georgios Printezis gave the Reds a 3-6 lead. Barcelona improved its defense, as Tomas Satoransky and Lampe fueled a 19-2 run highlighted by Marcelinho Huertas's incredible three-pointer at the end of the first quarter. A triple by Nachbar made it a 15-point game early in the second quarter. Brent Petway and Kostas Sloukas stepped up for Olympiacos and a dunk by Matt Lojeski brought his team within 35-26 at halftime. Navarro took over after the break, as Barcelona kept excelling on defense to extend its margin to 50-38 at the end of the third quarter. Nothing changed from that moment, as Nachbar downed consecutive three-pointers to seal the outcome, 61-42, long before the final buzzer.

First quarter: Barcelona’s defense sets the tone

Printezis got Olympiacos going with a fast break layup and a close basket by Bryant Dunston soon gave the Reds a 1-4 lead. Navarro took over with a running hook before Printezis nailed his trademark one-handed jumper off the baseline, as Olympiacos struggled to get Vassilis Spanoulis involved due to Satoransky's strong defense. Navarro hit a step-back jumper and a dunk by Ante Tomic gave Barcelona a 7-6 lead. DeShaun Thomas finished a three-chance Barcelona offense with a big slam and added a jump hook off a timeout for 5-point advantage. Olympiacos could not find the way to the basket. The Reds were held scoreless for more than six minutes, while a three-pointer by Satoransky capped an 11-0 Barcelona run for a 14-6 lead. Agravanis rescued Olympiacos with a layup, which Brad Oleson bettered with a triple. Marcelinho beat the buzzer with an unbelievable circus shot from downtown for a 20-8 Barcelona lead after 10 minutes.

Second quarter: Olympiacos fights back, Barcelona remains ahead

Oleson kept pushing Barcelona with a wild driving layup early in the quarter. Sloukas tried to ignite the guests' comeback with free throws, which Nachbar improved on with a catch-and-shoot triple for a 25-10 Barcelona advantage. Vangelis Mantzaris struck from downtown and a layup by Brent Petway gave Olympiacos hope at 25-15. Tibor Pleiss stepped up with a dunk and matched Petway's six-meter jumper with a layup. Mantzaris and Sloukas split free throws, bringing the Reds within single digits, 29-20. Maciej Lampe shined with a put-back basket, which Dunston erased with a layup. Spanoulis split foul shots - his first point - and Satoransky set a 32-23 Barcelona margin. After Lampe made free throws, Dunston and Tomic split attempts and a fast break dunk by Matt Lojeski fixed the halftime score at 35-26.

Third quarter: Hosts remain in control

Navarro struck from downtown immediately after the break, as Barcelona held the guests scoreless for more than two minutes. A three-pointer by Satoransky boosted his team's lead to 41-26. Tremmell Darden hit a six-meter jumper and Lojeski buried one from beyond the arc to bring Olympiacos a bit closer. The Reds tried a more athletic frontcourt with Petway and Othello Hunter. Satoransky took over with a driving layup and Navarro nailed an eight-meter bomb that broke the game open at 46-31. Hunter split foul shots and Pleiss soon made it a 16-point game. Ioannis Papapetrou struck from downtown, as Barcelona started to use longer possessions now. Lampe made free throws and Agravanis bettered him with a triple to make it 50-38.

Fourth quarter: Barcelona wraps it up early

Olympiacos needed a quick comeback to return to the game and tried a more dynamic backcourt with Lafayette and Sloukas together on court. Lampe hit a jump hook, which Slouks erased with a driving layup and a step-back jumper by Papapetrou gave Olympiacos hope, 52-42, with eight minutes left. Tomic split free throws and added a layup, which caused the Reds stop the game at 55-42. Back-to-back three-pointers by Nachbar sealed the outcome at 61-42 with less than six minutes remaining. Olympiacos called another timeout and tried to play more physical. Hunter shined with an alley-oop layup and Oleson left the game with an ankle injury. Lafayette made free throws, but Mario Hezonja did better with a three-point play. Just as always, Olympiacos never gave up, but the Barcelona fans had plenty of time to celebrate a very important win.

Ξέμεινε...

Ξέμεινε από δυνάμεις και πλάνα στο 4ο δεκάλπετο ο Ολυμπιακός και ηττήθηκε από τη Μπαρτσελόνα με 70-58 απόντων των αρχηγών του Σπανούλη και Πρίντεζη. 4η σερί ήττα για τους ερυθρόλευκους στο Top-16 και αν θέλουν να έχουν ελπίδες θα πρέπει να κάνουν το 4/4 για την πρόκριση στην 8αδα.

Στα αγωνιστικά...

Μπήκε δυνατά ο Ολυμπιακός με τάση να παίξει μέσα από τη ρακέτα με τον Ντάνστον και τα κατάφερε. Βρήκε ρυθμό και σκόραρε αρκετά ο Αμερικανός. Στην άμυνα φάνηκε διαβασμένος με άμυνες με προσαρμογές σε Ναβάρο και Τόμιτς που είχαν καλό αποτέλεσμα με τον Σερμαντίνι να ξεκινάει βασικός για να περιορίσει τον Κροάτη. Όμως ο Χουέρτας έκανε όλη τη ζημιά για τη Μπαρτσελόνα. Σκορ δεκαλέπτου 18-13.

Τέλος 1ου - αρχές 2ου που βγήκε ο Τόμιτς η Μπαρτσελόνα έχασε τον προσανατολισμό της και έπιαξε πάρα πολύ με τρίποντα. Πολύ καλές άμυνες από τον Ολυμπιακό αλλά χάνει πολλά εύκολα καλάθια και δε μπορεί να πλησιάσει στο σκορ. Δυστυχώς ο Περπέρογλου βρέθηκε σε κακή βραδιά κάνοντας αρκετά λάθη. Σε αυτό βοήθησε πολύ και η άμυνα της Μπαρτσελόνα που προέβλεψε το παιχνίδι του Ολυμπιακού και πως ο Περπέρογλου θα πάρει φάσεις και τον έκλεισε πολύ καλά. Με τον Ντάνστον να καρφώνει με λύσσα και να έχει βρει ρυθμό μένει κοντά στο σκορ. Μόλις έβγαινε και έμπαινε ο Σίμονς, ερχόταν μαζί του και τρικυμία σε άμυνα και επίθεση (δεν κάνει για αυτό το επίπεδο το παιδί!). Δοκιμάστηκε για λίγο και σχήμα με 4αρι Ντάνστον και 5αρι Σίμονς αλλά δεν τράβηξε... Σκορ ημιχρόνου 33-27.

Ο Ολυμπιακός δεν είχε διάθεση να παρατήσει το ματς. Είδαμε και full court press και στο 2ο δεκάλεπτο αλλά και στο 2ο ημίχρονο σε αρκετά σημεία. Στις αρχές του 3ου δεκαλέπτου μάλιστα με πολύ μεγάλη αποτελεσματικότητα. Σε συνδυασμό με τα αρκετά επιθετικά ριμπάουντ μαζεύει τη διαφορά και μένει στο παιχνίδι. Κάπου στο 25' ο Τόμιτς σκάει αγκωνιά (εντός φάσης) στον Ντάνστον με αποτέλεσμα να βγει ο καλύτερος (ως τότε) παίκτης του για αρκετό χρόνο. Κάπου εκεί χάθηκε και ο ρυθμός και το ματς, αφού οι Σίμονς και Σερμαντίνι δεν κάλυψαν τα κενά στη ρακέτα. Σε αυτό το σημείο ο Ολυμπιακός έπαιξε πολύ με τρίποντα και όσο τα έβαζε ο Πέτγουεϊ, έμενε κοντά. Το άσχημο ήταν ότι οι παίκτες σου έδιναν την ιδέα ότι φοβούνται να πάρουν την επίθεση. Μπορούσαν να τελειώσουν κάποια drive και αντί αυτού προτιμούσαν να γυρίζουν και άλλο τη μπάλα με αποτέλεσμα να κολλάνε και να καταλήγει σε σουτ. Τα περισσότερα δε βγήκαν.

Η Μπαρτσελόνα που στο 4ο επέλεξε να παίξει πολύ με τρίποντα, είχε μεγάλη ευστοχία και έτσι οι όποιες ελπίδες του Ολυμπιακού για come back εξανεμίστηκαν. Τελικό σκορ 70-58.

Barcelona improves to 10-0 on Navarro’s special night

FC Barcelona locked up home-court advantage for the Turkish Airlines Euroleague playoffs by downing two-time defending champions Olympiacos Piraeus 70-58 at Palau Blaugrana in Top 16 Group E on Friday. Barcelona improved to 10-0, registered its 22nd consecutive Top 16 win and its 30th straight Top 16 home triumph - both all-time Euroleague records. Olympiacos dropped to 4-7 and is in a four-game losing streak. It was a special night for Juan Carlos Navarro, who became the all-time Euroleague leader in games played (253, surpassing Theo Papaloukas, who attended the game) and minutes played (6,564, beating J.R. Holden). Brad Oleson paced the winners with 15 points off the bench, Ante Tomic tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds and Erazem Lorbek finished with 13 points for the winners. Bryant Dunston paced the Reds with 18 points and Brent Petway scored 17. In a small ceremony before the game. Euroleague Basketball Competitions Director Diego Guillen, FC Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu and Euroleague Basketball legend Theodoros Papaloukas – the previous holder of the record with his 252 games played – honored Navarro by awarding him several gifts to a standing ovation of his fans on the stands. Aside from the gifts, a video was played on the Balugrana screens with several of Navarro's colleagues and friends congratulating him on his achievement. Barcelona trailed 38-39 early in the second half but Lorbek and Oleson led the hosts to a 55-44 advantage through three quarters. Barca boosted its margin to 65-49 and never looked back. 

First quarter: Tomic, Huertas put Barcelona ahead 

Dunston got Olympiacos going with a jump hook that Tomic erased at the other end. Erazem Lorbek took over with a big basket in the low post. Dunston provided a highlight with a one-handed slam before a running jumper by Marcelinho Huertas put Barcelona back ahead, 6-4. Stratos Perperoglou fed Giorgi Shermadini for an easy layup, as Barcelona tried to get Tomic involved without much success. Dunston kept pushing Olympiacos with a baseline jumper, but Tomic made free throws and collected a steal that allowed Huertas to put the hosts back ahead, 10-8. Olympiacos was forced to use long possessions without good shot selection. Tomic scored down low and a third-chance tip-in by Shermadini kept the Reds within 12-10. Huertas stepped up with a three-point play that Brent Petway matched with a triple. Jacob Pullen struck from downtown to give Barcelona an 18-13 lead after 10 minutes. 

Second quarter: Defense keeps the hosts in charge 

Mardy Collins scored in penetration early in the second quarter and free throws by Petway brought Olympiacos as close as 18-17. Barcelona kept missing shots from long distance and a jumper by Matt Lojeski put the Reds back ahead, 18-19, after a 0-6 run. Brad Oleson tried to change things with a six-meter jumper and Navarro found his first points for a 22-19 Barcelona edge. Navarro added a layup in transition and a free throw by Lorbek gave Barcelona fresh air at 25-19. Kostas Sloukas hit a stop-and-pop jumper, but Huertas found Tomic for a two-handed dunk. Barcelona tried to play more aggressive once Olympiacos entered the foul penalty. Lorbek ignited the crowd with a corner three-pointer that capped a 12-2 run, 30-21. Dunston followed an alley-oop slam with a huge dunk in traffic, but Navarro downed a three-pointer for a 33-25 Barcelona lead. Another dunk by Dunston fixed the halftime score at 33-27. 

Third quarter: Lorbek, Oleson help Barca roll 

Dunston sank free throws right after the break and a block by Petway kept the Reds' defensive momentum going. Petway buried a three-pointer that brought Olympiacos within 33-32, after a 0-7 run. Tomic scored down, low but Lojeski followed a triple with a one-handed floater to complete the guests' comeback, 35-37, midway through the third quarter. Lorbek rescued Barcelona with a catch-and-shoot three-pointer from the left wing. After Shermadini made free throws, Tomic scored down low and a 24-second turnover caused Olympiacos to call timeout at 40-39. Tomic sank a turnaround jumper and foul shots by Lorbek boosted Barcelona's lead to 44-39. Petway shocked the crowd with a wild, off-balance three-pointer. Oleson did better with back-to-back shots from downtown that made it an 8-point game. Oleson, Petway and Alex Abrines made free throws and a buzzer-beating triple by Pullen gave Barcelona a double-digit lead, 55-44.

Fourth quarter: Barcelona adds 10th win 

Pullen took over with a wild driving layup early in the fourth quarter. Dunston made free throws, as Barcelona tried to use longer possessions to run the game clock down. Olympiacos kept powering the offensive glass, but shots did not fall in. Barcelona also struggled to score, however, and a free throw by Vangelis Mantzaris gave the Reds hope, 57-47, with over six minutes to go. Tomic stepped up with a tip-in, but Sloukas hit a close shot. A pair of three-pointer by Oleson boosted Barcelona's lead to 65-49 with four minutes remaining. Dunston made free throws, but didn't find much help around. By the time Abrines took over with an alley-oop slam, everything was said and done. Barcelona grabbed home-court advantage for the playoffs on a special night for its homegrown legend.
