Και στο τέλος... Άστοχος!

Πικρή ήττα που με τον τρόπο που ήρθε στη Βασκονία για τους ερυθρόλευκους με 74-73 από τη Λαμποράλ Κούτσα. Αν και σε όλη τη διάρκεια του παιχνιδιού ο Ολυμπιακός ήταν μέσα στο κόλπο, στις κρίσιμες στιγμές ήταν άστοχος και απώλεσε μια σημαντική νίκη καθώς φαίνεται να απομακρύνεται το πλεονέκτημα έδρας των δύο πρώτων θέσεων, μετά βέβαια και την ήττα στην έδρα του από τη Φενέρ.

 Δυνατό ξεκίνημα για τον Ολυμπιακό με τον Λοτζέσκι να μπαίνει ζεστός. Ο Ντάνστον δυστυχώς έπαιζε με πυρετό και δεν μπόρεσε να βοηθήσει όσο θα μπορούσε στο 5 τον Χάντερ (ένα από τα κύρια αίτια της ήττας). Έκανε δύο γρήγορα φάουλ αναγκάζοντας να μπει άμεσα ο Χάντερ, που για να πάρει ανάσες (αργότερα) χρειάστηκε να παίξει και ο Καββαδάς (συνολικά 7΄), που δυστυχώς, όσο ήταν στο παρκέ (κυρίως απόντος Πρίντεζη και στο διάστημα που έπαιζε μαζί με Αγραβάνη ατο 4-5), η ομάδα κολλούσε επιθετικά, πηγαίνοντας σε πολλά τρίποντα και έχανε αρκετά αμυντικά ριμπάουντ.

Το ξεκίνημα για τη Λαμποράλ είχε πολλά, κυρίως με τον Μπερτάνς. Το πολύ δυναμικό heads out του ψηλού του Ολυμπιακού νομίζω πως στοίχισε απόψε, καθώς οι Βάσκοι μοίραζαν σωστά τη μπάλα, έβρισκαν το κενό στην άμυνα και ευστοχούσαν σε ελεύθερα σουτ. Το heads out ουσιαστικά το μετέτρεπαν σε double team, αφού ο ψηλός του Ολυμπιακού έπαιρνε man to man το αντίπαλο γκαρντ. Στην προσπάθεια αυτή πέρα από τα εύκολα καλάθια που βρήκε η Λαμποράλ, χρέωσαν και εύκολα φάουλ τους Ντάνστον και Χάντερ. 

Όμως ο Ολυμπιακός επιθετικά ήταν ορεξάτος και έπαιζε μυαλωμένα οπότε και κρατούσε την πρωτοπορία στο σκορ. Σκορ δεκαλέπτου 19-23.

Στο 2ο δεκάλεπτο ο Ολυμπιακός δυνάμωσε την άμυνα, έγινε πιο πιεστικός και κράτησε χαμηλά τη Λαμποράλ στο σκοράρισμα. Για να ξεκουραστούν οι Πρίντεζης και Χάντερ, πέρσαν στη θέση τους οι Καββαδάς και Αγραβάνης που όμως επιθετικά φάνηκε η απειρία τους καθώς η ομάδα κόλλησε στο σκοράρισμα. Είδαμε και λίγο ζώνη από τη Λαμποράλ.

Διαβασμένη κίνηση από το Σφαιρόπουλο, με τον Μάντζαρη να ποστάρει τον James και να του βάζει καλάθια. Η άμυνα της Λαμποράλ είναι σοφτ. Έπρεπε να τη χτυπήσει περισσότερο από τη ρακέτα καθώς οι Βάσκοι δεν συμπλήρωσαν τα 5 ομαδικά στα δύο πρώτα δεκάλεπτα.

Το Β' μέρος δεν ήταν καλό για τον Ολυμπιακό, αφού ξεκίνησε με πολλά τρίποντα τις επιθέσεις του και δεν ήταν και ιδιαίτερα εύστοχος. Τα πολλά χαμένα αμυντικά ριμπάουντ (40-29 τελικά) τον πλήγωσαν. Συνεχίζει τις κακές επιθέσεις και κρατάει βραχεία κεφαλή με την άμυνά του. Πολλά αβίαστα λάθη στην επίθεση με το Σλούκα να είναι και απόψε μέτριος. Όσο μπαίνουν κάποια μεμονωμένα τρίποντα στέκεται.Δεν παίζει με ρακέτα. Η μόνη σταθερή απειλή από το ζωγραφιστό, ο Πρίντεζης, που ήταν πολύ ενεργητικός.

Με τα πολλα το ματς έφτασε στον πόντο (74-73 η Λαμποράλ) και ο Ολυμπιακος είχε τις δυο τελευταίες κατοχές με το μέρος του για το προσπέρασμα. 

Στην 1η φάση η μπάλα σωστά πήγε στον Πρίντεζη που κέρδισε εύκολα το φάουλ και πήγε για βολές. Δυστυχώς χάνει και τις δύο. Καλή άμυνα - καθαρή στο καπάκι και έχει 24" όλα δικά του. 

Ο Λαφαγιέτ το παίρνει πάνω του και σουτάρει (και καλά έκανε αφού είχε 2/2) και αστοχεί. Απλά θα μπορούσε να εκτελεστεί μια πιο όχι τόσο βεβιασμένη επίθεση. 

Τελικό το 74-73 με τους ερυθρόλευκους μα χάνουν το ματς και μαζί και το πλεονέκτημα έδρας, αφού ΤΣΣΚΑ και Φενέρ ειναι μόνες πρώτες στο 9-2, με τον Ολυμπιακό να μένει στο 8-3. Μόνο με το 3/3 στα επόμενα ματς θα μπορέσει να κερδίσει το πλεονέκτημα έδρας.

James sparks Laboral Kutxa to tough win over Reds

In a game where neither team had a lead bigger than 7 points, Laboral Kutxa Vitoria edged Olympiacos Piraeus 74-73 on Friday night in Vitoria. Laboral improved to 5-6 in Top 16 Group F, where it shares fourth place with Anadolu Efes Istanbul. Mike James strung together 9 of his game-high 17 points for a 9-2 run that put Laboral up for good, 72-68 late in the fourth quarter. With 67 second remaining, Davis Bertans sank a long jumper, which turned out to be the difference in the game. Olympiacos had chances to win in the final minutes, but Laboral held on as James finished with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Bertans netted 15 and Fabien Causeur 13 points in victory. Olympiacos, which was without Vassilis Spanoulis, dropped to 8-3 and third place. Georgios Printezis collected 15 points and 7 rebounds, while Othello Hunter scored 14. Oliver Lafayette, who missed a potential game-winning triple, netted 8 in defeat.

First quarter: Bertans hits threes, but Olympiacos jumps in front

Vangelis Mantzaris scored inside to open the scoring, and after Causuer made a runner on the other end, Dunston scored from close range on consecutive possessions and Printezis finished a fastbreak with a dunk for a 2-8 lead. After a Laboral timeout, Bertans nailed a pair of triples to tie the game, but Matt Lojeski hit from downtown, too, to make it 8-11. Colton Iverson and Printezis traded baskets from close range, but Tornike Shengelia and Bertans nailed back-to-back three-pointers as the hosts went ahead 16-13. The Reds regained the lead with a basket from Lojeski and a monster dunk from Hunter. Causeur made a steal and raced for a layup, but baskets inside from Hunter and Printezis kept the visitors in front, and Sloukas drove for a layup to make it 19-23 at the end of the quarter.

Second quarter: The Reds keep slim lead

Sloukas kept running the visitors’ offense and fed Vasileios Kavvadas with a lovely pass for a layup. After a big dunk from Kim Tillie, Sloukas found Dimitrios Agravanis for a wide-open three and a 21-28 cushion. Oliver Lafayette sank a tough baseline jumper, but a step-back triple from Fernando San Emeterio and a fastbreak dunk from Bertans helped Laboral get within 29-30. Printezis nailed a triple and James countered with a baseline jumper. Mantzaris drove for a runner, but James raced for a fastbreak dunk to bring his team within 33-35. Olympiacos remained in front with a three-point play from Hunter, but San Emeterio banked in a tough baseline shot to make it 36-38 at halftime.

Third quarter: Teams trade blows, stay close

Shengelia drove for a layup, and Iverson had a put-back dunk to give Laboral the lead, but Tremmell Darden sank a triple to put the Reds up 40-41. The teams traded leads as Causeur twice drove to the basket, while Lojeski hit a long jumper. A fastbreak layup from Printezis and a triple from Lafayette gave the visitors a 44-48 advantage. Bertans made free throws, and Hunter responded with another dunk. After Ioannis Papapetrou and Mirza Begic traded quick layups, a corner triple from San Emeterio tied the score at 52-52. In the final minute of the quarter, free throws from Agravanis and Sloukas on one end, and Tillie at the other made it 53-55.

Fourth quarter: James leads Laboral to dramatic win

Agravanis buried a triple to open a 5-point margin as Olympiacos kept the hosts scoreless for almost three minutes until Causeur sank a triple, Laboral’s third attempt during the same trip down the floor. On the next possession, James hit from way downtown for a 59-58 lead. Hunter split free throws, but Tillie had a monster dunk and Causeur drove coast-to-coast for a layup and a 63-59 advantage with six minutes to go. After a timeout, Printezis banked in a pair of close range shots to tie it, before Lafayette knocked down a triple to go ahead 63-66. James split defenders to drive for a layup for the hosts, then made 5 of 5 from the foul line for a 70-66 difference. Hunter elevated high for an alley-oop dunk, but James made a steal under Olympiacos’s basket and scored a layup, his ninth straight point. On the other end, Sloukas answered with a basket-plus-foul for a 72-71 lead. Bertans sank a jumper with his toes on the 6.75-meter arc, but Hunter had another huge put-back dunk to make it 74-73. In the final minute, Printezis missed 2 free throws with 41 seconds remaining, and after Tillie’s baseline jumper rimmed out, Lafayette missed a potential game-winning triple before Laboral ran out the clock.

Πήγε για να χάσει

Ποδαρικό στις ήττες έκανε ο Ολυμπιακός με 89-70 χάνοντας από τη Λαμποράλ στη Βασκονία. Χαλαρή διάθεση, μικρή συγκέντρωση, κακές άμυνες και soft αντιμετώπιση στα πικ εν ρολ συνθέτουν το σκηνικό της ήττας. Ο τρόπος που αντιμετώπισαν το ματς οι ερυθρόλευκοι ήταν εμφανώς αδιάφορος, καθώς φαίνεται πως πίστεψαν στο αρχικό 6-0 και πιθανότατα στην 1η θέση. Έτσι βρήκε την ευκαιρία (ή σχεδίασε;) και ο Σφαιρόπουλος να δοκιμάσει τους πιο ανέτοιμους παίκτες, είτε  για να αποκτήσουν εμπειρία όπως ο Αγραβάνης, είτε για να δέσουν καλύτερα και με τους υπόλοιπους, όπως οι Ντάρντεν και Λαφαγιέτ που δεν είχαν πάρει αρκετό χρόνο συμμετοχής ως τώρα. Οι τρεις προαναφερθείς παίκτες φαίνεται ότι θέλουν χρόνο για να μπουν στο κλίμα της υπόλοιπης ομάδας.

Στην ανάλυση του αγώνα, ο Ολυμπιακός δέχτηκε 89 πόντους παίζοντας αδιάφορη άμυνα. Άφησε το Σαν Εμετέριο και τη Λαμποράλ να βάλει τα σουτ και να βρει ρυθμό και σε συνδυασμό με τις πολλές λανθασμένες επιλογές στην επίθεση σε όλο το ματς, ουσιαστικά κόντραρε μόλις για 1 δεκάλεπτο τη Λαμποράλ. 

Κύριος εκφραστής των επιθέσεων στο 1ο δεκάλεπτο ήταν ο Σπανούλης. Τον ξεκούρασε ο Σφαιρόπουλος στο 2ο. Στην επίθεση προσπάθησε να περάσει τη μπάλα στη ρακέτα και βρήκε πόντους στη θέση 5 με τον Ντάνστον χαρίζοντας εντυπωσιακά καρφώματα και διαδοχικούς πόντους. 

Δυστυχώς οι περισσότεροι παίκτες του Ολυμπιακού δεν βρέθηκαν σε καλή μέρα και ήταν και πολλοί άστοχοι στα σουτ 3 πόντων. Δεν μπορείς έτσι να αξιώσεις τη νίκη.

Εκτός κλίματος ο Μάντζαρης, με κακές επιλογές και πολλά αβίαστα λάθη. Μοναδικό αυτό που είδαμε από τον Ντάρντεν που του,πήραν την μπάλα μέσα από τα χέρια 3-4 φορές, κάτι που δηλώνει κόπωση.

Στην ύστατη προσπαθεία να γυρίσει το ματς στο 4ο δεκάλεπτο με τρίποντο του Λαφαγιέτ ρίχνει τη διαφορά στο +11 αλλά εξαιτίας των κακών και βεβιασμένων επιλογών στην επίθεση δεν καταφέρνει να το γυρίσει. Μόνη επιθετική λύση τα μοναδικά  drive του Σπανούλη που μπήκε στο 35´ και έπαιζε μόνος του. Καταπληκτικό goal-foul καλάθι περνώντας κάτω από την ρακέτα. Τερμάτισε στους 27 πόντους. Το να στηρίζεται βέβαια η ομάδα σε έναν παίκτη επιθετικά, θα πρέπει να προβληματίσει το staff του Ολυμπιακού, ανεξάρτητα από την απουσία δύο παικτών που είναι σκόρερ (Λοτζέσκι - Πρίντεζη) καθώς πρέπει η ομάδα να μάθει να στηρίζεται και στους υπόλοιπους παίκτες αλλά και να μπορεί να αντιδρά σε περιπτώσεις απουσιών στο μέλλον, κυρίως του Σπανούλη.

Laboral Kutxa downs Olympiacos on historic night 

Laboral Kutxa Vitoria reached a historic milestone and beat previously undefeated Olympiacos Piraeus 89-70 in the Game of the Week to get an important win in the hunt for a place in the Top 16. Laboral, which scored its 25,000th Euroleague point during the second quarter, improved to 3-4 and will be in at least a share of the fourth place in Group D on Friday. Meanwhile, Olympiacos now holds a 6-1 record, but remains two wins clear atop of the standings. The Reds had a better start to the game with Vassilis Spanoulis becoming the fourth player to 2,500 Euroleague points in the first six minutes of the game, but Laboral used triples from Fabien Causeur and Thomas Heurtel to go in front, and never relinquish the lead. The hosts led 44-37 at halftime, then opened the third quarter with a 9-0 run with Tornike Shengelia and Davis Bertans leading the charge, and the margin never dropped below 10 points the rest of the way. Heurtel netted 18 points, and Bertans had 17 in victory. Shengelia scored 14, while Mirza Begic collected 12 points, 7 boards and 3 blocks, and Fernando San Emeterio also scored 12 in victory. Spanoulis finished with 27 points for the Reds, and Bryant Dunston scored all 12 of his points in the first half. 

First quarter: Laboral hits from long range to jump in front 

A pair of big blocks from Shengelia and Colton Iverson opened the contest, before Spanoulis opened the scoring after two minutes with a layup and in the process becoming the fourth all-time leading scorer of the competition. Davis Bertans hit from downtown to end a three-minute scoreless run for the home team, but Vangelis Mantzaris went all the way for the visitors and Bryant Dunston scored underneath after a feed from Spanoulis. Shengelia answered with a spin move on the other end, before Spanoulis reached another milestone, 2,500 points in his Euroleague career, by sinking a three-pointer from the corner after six minutes for a 7-9 edge. Heurtel copied him right away, before Dunston's jumper kept Olympiacos ahead 10-11. Shengelia stole the ball and Causeur finished the break with a triple, before Begic was perfect from the foul line, giving Laboral a 15-11 lead. Spanoulis hit a mid-range jumper, but back-to-back three-pointers from Causeur and Heurtel raised the margin to 20-13 late in the quarter. Dimitrios Agravanis scored a jumper, after which Bertans and Othello Hunter exchanged acrobatic lay-ups for 22-17. Begic, still perfect at the free throw line, made it 24-17 after 10 minutes. 

Second quarter: San Emeterio and Vujacic keep the hosts ahead

Spanoulis drained 3 free throws cutting the deficit, but Begic turned the baseline to make a huge two-handed dunk. Olympiacos reacted with a floater from Kostas Sloukas, and a powerful baseline dunk by Tremmell Darden, before San Emeterio scored a short jumper made Laboral the first team in competition history to 25,000 points. A three-pointer from Sloukas got Olympiacos within 30-29, but Sasha Vujacic hit from mid range to keep the home team in charge. San Emeterio got hot, scoring from the foul line and adding a deep three for a 37-31 lead. Dunston made a slam, but Kim Tillie was aggressive on the other end to score inside. Spanoulis and Heurtel both scored short jumpers for a 42-35 lead and after Dunston added another slam, Vujacic finished the scoring in the half at 44-37. 

Third quarter: Laboral pulls away behind 9-0 run 

Shengelia made a steal and dished it to Heurtel for an easy fastbreak layup to start the half and spark a Laboral run. Bertans drove for a layup, before Shengelia found Causeur on another fast break for a wide-open triple. After a timeout, Shengelia went coast-to-coast to make it 53-37. Spanoulis made a short jumper to snap the 9-0 run. Agravanis fought for a put-back, but Shengelia scored 4 more points, and Heurtel banked in a runner to make it 60-42. Hunter scored from close range for the Reds, but Bertans sank a three and Begic made a layup, helping the margin reach 20. Spanoulis drove for a layup, and Oliver Lafayette finished a fast break to cut the margin, forcing the hosts to call a timeout. In the final minute of the quarter, Begic had a pair of offensive boards that led to a layup, before Agravanis drove for a layup that made it 68-52. 

Fourth quarter: Hosts close it out 

San Emeterio got things going in the quarter, but with a basket-plus-foul from Darden and a triple from Lafayette the visitors came within 70-59. But Bertans nailed another one from downtown as both defenses held their own, keeping the game scoreless for two and a half minutes. Shengelia made a pair of free throws, before Spanoulis and Bertans traded layups to make it 77-61. Spanoulis drove for an acrobatic reverse layup-plus-free throw, but Shengelia got to the free throw line again, sinking both and not allowing Olympiacos to gain ground. Olympiacos was within 79-66 with three minutes to go, but Heurtel was on six trips to the free throw line after a pair of technical fouls, and Begic made a put-back as the game came to its end.
